It's just me, myself, and the books... ;-)
I had to mull this over for a bit. My rating constantly switched between 3.5 and 5 stars.
In this story we still have the T.J. Klune brand of humor(which I love) but it's not so much in-the-face... more subdued. (I still love it!) After the other books by T.J. Klune I've read recently this was kind of refreshing!
Grumpy characters with hearts of gold are a special weakness of mine so it's no surprise I fell for Gus almost right from the start.
Casey though.... He annoyed the ever loving F*** out of me!His constantly instagraming, selfie taking and hashtagging (is this an actual word?) drove me nuts! - Call me oldfashioned, I don't care. - And his friends were non the better!
Since I arrived at the sidecharacters... I loved Lottie and the We Three Queens and how they cared for Gus. Though I have the feeling you could have simply switched them with eachother without anyone noticing. Like they were all the same person.
You know, most of the time I'm a little smutmonster and I love me some smoking sexy times. But the asexual aspect of this story spoke to me on a very private level.
I will definitely pick this up again! (Maybe doing the audio?)
Never, ever let anyone tell you that who you are is wrong.
It's okay to be gay. Or straight. Or bisexual.
It's also okay to be asexual, demisexual, pansexual, or aromantic.
You do you, and if anyone gives you grief for that, remember one thing:
You are exactly the way you're supposed to be.
If you need something to "clean" your mind these stories are just for you!
There wasn't a story I disliked. Though non of them were something special for me.
I liked that there were also 2 M/M stories and not only M/F.
My 2 favorite stories were "Seamus" by Vanessa North and "Devlin" by Parker Kincade.
This was full of T.J. Klune's humor so... Britta is a happy camper!
While I love Darren and Sandy/Helena and was so shipping these guys, the story itself was ok but nothing to sweep me up my feet.
Don't get me wrong! I wasn't disappointed in any shape or form. It just wasn't the most original storyline IMO.
And as a sidenote: YES, T.J. can write smoking sexy times!!!!
So I read those treasures back to back...
Since I read Tell Me It's Real last year I wanted to read more books by T.J. Klune. I loved his humor.
Now with Bear, Otter and Tyson (who isn't any longer the Kid) and their chosen family he absolutely got me under his spell!
This series has it all and then some.
And my personaly cherry on top of it all was Tyson's trip to Tucson where he met all my friends form Tell Me It's Real! I just have to read The Queen & The Homo Jock King immediately.
If you haven't read T.J. Klune yet.... WHY NOT?????
Definitely one of the best in this series.
Couldn't put it down for even a sec.
Though there are things I don't know what to think about... But since they are all connected to the setup for the new series around Dex and Solane I just
will have to wait and see how they turn out.
For now I'm a happy camper!
